Welcome to EDUC 552. Congratulations! You found our class blog!

We will be using this blog throughout the course as a communication tool. I will be posting material twice a week for you to comment upon.

I am going to have to go with an easy one and say my computer. I feel like this computer holds my life! Not only do I keep my records for work on here (using flash drives of course!), but I also keep personal pictures on here of vacations and holidays, make spreadsheets to budget paychecks, and I keep my calendar updated on here too (along with numerous other things)! Living in the technology- saavy-age, I know there is no way blessed way I could ever not use a computer again or have it to help keep me organized! My tech guy at the beginning of the year accidentally wiped it out... if you would have seen my reaction (yes, tears were involved), then you would have known my answer without even reading this!! :)

A piece of technology that I cannot live without would definitely be my computer. I use my computer every day to communicate, plan, and work! At school I use my computer to plan lessons, fill out report cards, communicate with other staff and parents. At home I use my computer to shop, and communicate with friends and family! It is hard to think of what it would be like without my computer!

I would have to agree with the others on this one. I would be lost without my computer. Although there are days when I think that life would be so much easier without the issues that I have with my computers. But I know I would be less organized without my computer.

My computer would be hard to live without. I use this tool to teach. A day without my computer would be pointless at school. My grades, lesson plans, schedule, resources, and numerous other things are on my computer. Wow, it's bad enough at school when the internet is down. I can't imagine if all computers were removed.

At home I don't use the computer as much, yet how would I work on my master's classes.

My computer is the obvious one. I couldn't communicate via email, do my school work, download pictures, upload songs to my iPod, research, report cards, and whatever else comes up throughout the day.

The common theme seems to be computer. I too enjoy having my computer close by to check e-mails, look up useful information, or simply for entertainment. I know how much my students enjoy using computers in school. It is amazing how far we have come with technology - years ago, I wouldn't have imagined I would be this close with my computer.

I am not a "born" computer person, and I have certainly had a love - hate relationship with it, but if I had to pick one piece of technology that I could no longer live without it would have to be the computer. At school alone it has become my right hand. I do grades on it, communicate with it, design the yearbook with it and recently have begun to use it more for lesson and journaling with my students. I have still not become totally computerized at home though. I still pay bills the old fashion way - with checks and stamps and I still use the phone before email, but I'm getting there.

The technology that I could not live with out would be a computer. I am not sure what we did with out them. From the minute I get to school till the minute I go to bed. At school I am constantly reading and responding to emails. As well as delivering my content to my students from my computer and Promethean board. When I get home I am communicating with friends and searching the web. Oh and can't forget completing my grad class assignment. :) I am still amazed how far technology has come in such a short period of time.

I agree the first piece of technology I couldn't live without would be the computer. I find so many lesson plans and videos to show my students. Also, I communicate with my family a great deal with it. However, a couple of years ago my school provided every classroom with LCD players and this is the first year I have really used mine and I don't know how I ever lived without it. The kids love to show them what I am looking at on the computer and what cool games and activities we can play as a class.

I do not think that I could live without my computer. I use it for just about everything I do. I type documents, communicate with friends, design presentations, and so much more! I'm not sure how I could complete many of the day-to-day tasks without one. Luckily, I've grown up in the computer age and have always had access to a computer. I can't imagine what it was like before computers. Thankfully, they have made our lives much easier. Most of the time. ;)

My favorite technology tool that I can not live with out is my cell phone. I drive 90 miles a day for work, and many times I get tired and want to chat with friends. I love to text :) and I probably couldn't live with out that any more.

The one piece of technology that I can absolutely NOT live without is my computer. I have everything on my computer. Pictures, addresses, phone numbers, grad class documents...are all on my computer. If I had to go without using a computer, I'd feel like I had just lost half of my life. I communicate with my entire family using my computer. I hate talking on my phone...it's just so much easier to use my computer and send an email instead. Steve Jobs is a genius!

I agree with most of the people that have posted that my favorite piece of technology is the computer. I love how easy it makes it to communicate with people, especially my students' parents. I also love that as soon as I post my students' grades their parents can see them. Not only do I use it for school work but I also use it a lot for personal things such as music, pictures, and communication.

I am going to have to go with the group and say my computer. I pretty much live on my computer from the minute I wake up until I go to sleep. I use my computer for school work such as lesson plans, ideas, report cards, online videos to show my students, and communication such as email. On a personal level I use my computer for email, online banking, storing photos, shopping, finding information on just about anything and everything, entertainment, etc, etc, the list goes on and on.
I can't envision my life without my computer!

Like most of you the piece of technology I find most valuable at school is my computer along with my projector. Everything in my classroom is hooked to my projector, my computer, my VHS/DVD player, my video flex. If something would go wrong with my projector I would have a melt down. At home I use my computer for our business, but the reality is if I had a job where I had to sit in front of a computer all day long every day, I would go crazy. I love technology and all the great things is does to enhance our lives, but I really need a break.

I think it obviously has to be the computer. I don’t know how I could survive a day without having internet access to be able to “surf” for endless information. Grades, Lesson Plans, Projects, technology creations, and so much more are on my computer. It is almost like the world has ended at our school if the server goes down and we can’t use our computers for the day. Makes you wonder how everyone got by without them before they existed. Even my personal life is highly connected with it through email, paying bills, banking, researching, and creating.

I would have to say that I would be completely lost without my digital camera. I use it continuously in my classroom to create projects and share things with my students and I attend so many sporting events for my own boys that I cannot imagine going and not having my camera there capture those memories.

My computer :-) Like many schools, we are web-based with communication, school announcements, and grades. Another very important piece of technology that I couldn't live without is my connector box for the amplifiers. This "box" connects my ipod deck to an amp which makes it easier to rehearse marching techniques and flag routines.

Of all the technology tools I cannot live without my cell phone. I know I didn't go with the computer. My cell phone is important to me because it keeps me in close contact with my family and my children are just a phone call away. I also like my phone because I use the internet and facebook on my phone. So I guess technically I cannot live without my computer either since my phone is used as a computer too. My cell phone is my digital camera, my camcorder, and my gaming tool. I use my cell phone every day and my computer I do always check on a daily basis.

I really like using my camera to capture moments. I have three kids, and they are no longer little anymore. I enjoying looking back and watching them grow. I also like using the camera in the classroom. Even documenting student’s projects when they finish and making a slide show at the end of the year, is a fun way to share and see what they have accomplished through out the year.

I would have to agree with just about everyone else. My laptop is something I could not live without. I have everything on it, from school work, to my photo library, to email! It is everything I need all rolled into one! I probably check my email about 10 times a day and it is my only lifeline during the work day. It is how I keep in touch with my family and friends, and it is how I teach my class on a daily basis.

I also would struggle without my cell phone!
